I'm primarily a self taught artist. I am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art with an Art Education Concentration at Metro State in Denver Colorado. My dream is to be an art teacher and tap into the creative mind of my students.
The natural beauty of the world has always been an important part of my work. But even the most literal of my paintings have a surreal aspect to them; caused, at least in part, by an exceptionally vivid color palette. My landscapes are improbable, yet imaginable views of the world.
My art is not about reproducing accurately what the eye sees. I am only interested in creating images which reflect my subjective response to places, express my feelings and try to capture the mood of being there. I much prefer to move beyond the safe comfort zone. Searching for variety, I thrive on the excitement of discovery and I love experimenting with future possibilities. I aim for integrity, mood, tone, color, texture, rhythm, harmony, contrast, and peaceful balance. When I paint I create a mood, arouse a feeling, stir the emotions.
All my paintings are a creation of my imagination. It should have an instant impact on the viewer. It either moves you or it doesn’t. It’s what the heart sees through your eyes. And I am very comfortable with that. For me as an artist the real achievement is when people tell me that my art work speak to them, when my creations touch their hearts and spirit. If my paintings help push away the sweat and tears that life brings I have reached my ultimate goal.
